I was fortunate to meet the developers of El Palcio De Hierro on a recent trip to Mexico City and after all I heard about this new flagship location, I had to go pay a visit. I was not quite sure what to expect regarding this high end Mexican department store. El Pacio de Hierro is the high end counter part of Neiman-Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue in the US.

On a Sunday before our departure my friends and I decided to visit the new 650,000 square foot flagship store in the tony neighborhood of Polanco. What we encountered left us speechless in reference to what had been built showcasing local and international designers, a 20,000 square foot food court with beautiful outdoor tree lined seating, an espresso bar, pastries, a large assortment of tequila, chocolates and signature restaurants.

There was so much to fathom that we were on sensory overload. We decided to first have lunch outdoors at one of the signature restaurants. The fresh white fish sautéed with garlic & potatoes, guacamole appetizer and flan for desert were amazing as was the service. The sun hitting my shoulders while we dined with a mesmerizing view of Mexico City set the tone for a wonderful Sunday meal in Mexico City!

After lunch we ventured through the department store to check out the styling, fashions and accessories. We were mesmerized by the scope of the local & international designers represented and the fantastic service. El Pacio de Hierro provides personal shoppers on hand speaking various languages to assist shoppers in need of direction.

This flagship store has been built to cater to the local community and international travelers that come to Mexico City for business or leisure. The attention to detail and service levels are impressive to say the least!
