When traveling internationally I always ask a client, friend or colleague for their recommendation for a dinning venue. On a recent trip to Rome I was told that Gallura was the place to go for fresh and beautifully prepared seafood. Being a lover of great food I had to give it a try!

Located in a beautiful residential area not too far from the Borghese garden, Gallura not only has amazing freshly prepared seafood but the setting is stunning with an outside terrace full of flowers, fountains and greenery. You go up a steep set of stairs to get to the terrace and then the entrance of the restaurant. It was January when I visited so I had to sit inside the bright and inviting dining room but I look forward to returning when the weather gets warmer so I can sit on the terrace and savor the setting.

The food and service are fantastic. From the moment I entered to the time I left I felt welcomed and the food truly placed me on a spiritual journey. I was greeted by a cold flute of sparkling reserve prosecco that was so smooth and delicious.

I started off with a homemade artichoke pasta followed by branzino baked in a salt shell that was tender and juicy. Probably one of the freshest fish I have had. For my sides, I had roasted baby potatoes and grilled vegetables. The meal was stunning as was the presentation. My server explained every dish to me in detail, sharing where each sustainable ingredient came from.

For dessert, I had homemade cookies and puff pastry with fresh cream & fruit. My entire dining experience was perfection! Gallura is a restaurant for someone that takes their food seriously. This is not a trendy dining venue one but one where great food, service and ambience rule!
