I was asked to travel for business to Puerto Rico on short notice the first week of September right after the Labor Day holiday.

Scrambling to get ready I did not even really pay attention to where I was staying. I was just in a business travel mode after a long weekend.

When I finally looked at my itinerary I realized I was staying at the St. Regis Bahia Beach a 45 minute drive from the San Juan International airport and on the tip of the National Rain Forest.

As I landed in Puerto Rico and headed to my destination I realized that I was heading away from San Juan and to Rio Grande and Bahia Beach. Passing the beautiful scenery I started relaxing a bit after a long flight to get to Puerto Rico.

The St. Regis built five years ago With 139 rooms and suites is for those that want a vacation full of rest and reflection or are fortunate to travel for a business retreat or meetings such as I. Located on miles of private beach I was stunned that I was the only one walking on the beach during my early morning walks before my meetings. The white sand beach for use by the guests is a true luxury because it is unspoiled and not built up with condos or hotels like so many places in the world. It is truly rare these days to be on a beachfront property that isn’t overrun by people.

The St. Regis offers miles of natural trails in addition to the pristine beach. The trails are Audubon natural trails meandering through the property. Of course there is a gym and a REMEDE spa. Sad to report that I didn’t have time to use the gym as I preferred a walk on the beach and my schedule didn’t allow a visit to the lovely spa.

The property has a signature restaurant by noted international chef Jean George called FERN. Along with a pool & beach-side venue called SEAGRAPE and a restaurant called Molasses in the golf club facing the beach and stunning infinity pools.  Guests of the St. Regis can use the infinity swimming pools and facilities of the golf and beach club located adjacent to the St. Regis hotel.

What I adored about the St Regis Bahia Beach besides the beachfront location was the kindness of the staff and the high service levels. Everyone I encountered went out of their way to make my stay special.

I look forward to returning when I have time to relish in the splendor of the property for leisure purposes. In the meantime I will remember my short but memorable business stay with fondness!
