We all reach a point where we become emotionally, spiritually, and physically drained—a moment when disconnecting and recharging the soul becomes essential. I recently found myself at that breaking point and was fortunate to spend time with my closest friends at the St. Regis Kanai in Mexico.

The Mayan culture has always touched my heart, and this resort embodies its spirit. With serene indoor–outdoor spaces, light-toned furnishings, and lush orchids and foliage, the atmosphere is peaceful and undeniably zen.

Built between the soil, stars, and sea, the St. Regis is a masterpiece of circular architecture interwoven with mangrove forest. Its design—rooted in Mayan cosmology—balances nature and structure with ease. Located near the Sian Ka’an Reserve on the Yucatán coast, the property encourages reflection in every detail. The long walks to the pools, beach, and dining areas become their own form of meditation.

Circular courtyards open into stunning public spaces, where sky and earth feel connected. During my stay, a lunar eclipse cast its glow over the water. The mangroves shimmered, and wildlife moved in harmony with the landscape—a reminder of nature’s rhythm and beauty.

Designed by Edmonds International, the St. Regis Kanai fulfills its mission of creating a sanctuary: a place of tranquility, far from the rush of daily life. Here, one can pause, breathe, and rediscover clarity.
