I decided to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with my family in East Hampton. After a stunning thanksgiving meal we all needed some exercise and a doze of nature. We decided to drive on Friday morning to the north haven south ferry to go onto Shelter Island. Once we crossed to Shelter Island we went to Mashomack Preserve for a fantastic scenic hike.

The preserve is 2,039 acres and edged by 10 miles of sandy coastline. We hiked through stunning fields, rocky coastline and woods. There are varying degrees of hikes depending on how many miles you intend to take on. There are trails from 1-10 miles! All types of levels can manage these hikes or walks. The preserve is run by the Nature Conservancy and they have done a fantastic job in preserving this area and make it accessible to all ages.

It was truly a spectacular hike surrounded with breathtaking natural resources and I would recommend it in any season. Go enjoy and explore.
