Being the Chief Marketing Officer of Travel Documents Systems whatever happens on a visa or passport basis across the globe effects my clients. On October 9, 2017 Turkey announced that it was suspending Visa issuance to US passport holders. This suspension was a diplomatic response to the US suspending visa issuance to Turkish citizens.

Currently Turkish visas will not be issued in passports, through their online E-Visa system or at the border. This means that anyone with a current valid Turkish visa already in their passport or a valid existing E-Visa can travel to Turkey.

I am not a politician but international accords between countries are very tenuous and based on reciprocal international agreements. When one country suspends the visa issuance then the other country will follow. It is diplomatic tit for tat.

We saw the same situation with the original US travel Ban issued In January 2017 where Muslim countries had been placed on hold for US Visa issuance.

Limiting visa issuance and not allowing vetted travelers into the US will just deepen the gap between cultures and countries. The best way to solve international relations is to have an open dialogue where travelers from other countries can come to the US and we can go to their countries to exchange ideas, connect, reflect and learn from each other!
