On a recent business trip to London I was fortunate to dine at Core which is run by Clare Smyth, the first and only female chef to run a three Michelin star restaurant in the UK.

Core is in a townhouse in the Notting Hill section of London. The interiors are bright, open and airy. Elegant but relaxing, sophisticated but nicely casual in spirit. There is beautifully placed art and a chef’s table if one wants to see the mastery first-hand.

The food is natural, sustainable and sourced through local purveyors and farmers to meet Clare Smyth’s high standards. The taste is so fresh and inviting to the palate.

The service is impeccable but not stuffy. The food presentation is stunning but not contrived and luscious to the taste. It artisanal but perfect in execution. My selections were so beautiful that I didn’t want to eat them. Each dish was a work of art.

Core has the perfect mix of fine dining but sets a soothing mood for the guest. I felt so comfortable but in awe of the creations that were placed in front of me to consume.

Clare Smyth has many additional awards in addition to the three Michellin stars and after dining at Core I now know why!
