There are lunches that become one of the loveliest memories of a trip. My afternoon at La Loggia at Villa Padierna Palace in Spain was one of them.
After a hectic day of running around, settling onto the shaded terrace, with a light breeze brushing my shoulders, felt like absolute bliss. Villa Padierna is a stunning resort known for its golf, wellness, and dining, but what stayed with me was the sense of calm I felt the moment I sat down.
The terrace overlooks the resort’s spectacular grounds, with the mountains lending a beautiful stillness to the setting. I could feel my body begin to decompress. There was something almost spiritual about pausing there, breathing in the air and simply enjoying the view.
We took our time with the menu, choosing a lunch that allowed the ingredients to speak for themselves. We began with a generous bowl of fresh green salad to share, filled with local vegetables and lightly dressed with vinaigrette. Freshly baked bread arrived with the hotel’s private-label Spanish olive oil—a lovely invitation to linger before the main course.
For our entrées, we chose grilled local white fish and organic chicken, each accompanied by small roasted potatoes. Both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully satisfying. There is such pleasure in a meal prepared with care, where every element earns its place on the plate.
With no room for dessert, we finished with coffee and a little more time to take in our surroundings. The service was attentive, and the terrace made it very easy to forget the busy day that had brought us there.
For me, this is one of the great pleasures of travel: finding a place where good food, gracious service, and a beautiful setting allow you to slow down. La Loggia was exactly that.
