The OCULUS at the World Trade Center designed by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava is supposed to represent a winged dove. The Ocalus is a 365,000 square foot retail and dining emporium and transportation center located right next to One Word Trade Center, Liberty Park and the National 911 memorial and museum.

The OCULUS is significant because it is a gathering point for people to shop, dine and travel where once the New Jersey Path station was located and destroyed during the 9/11 attacks. To me, the OCULUS provides testament to a city determined to bring life back to an area that was once the site of a horrific terrorist attack. When you stand in the main lobby level floor and look up you see the Freedom Tower through the glass inserts in the ceiling. The architecture is riveting and grand in scale.

Those who perished will never be forgotten but a tribute to them that life must continue or the attackers will win. A testament to the tenacity and strength of New York City to rebuild and pay homage to those that have passed.
