The Eastern shore of Maryland is a magical place an hour and a half drive from Washington, DC. When you are on the Eastern shore of Maryland you feel like you have escaped the daily grind of the city with the charming main street filled with shops and restaurants and stunning nature.

There is an ambiance about the Eastern shore that makes it unique with the Chesapeake Bay and all the adjoining water ways, the delicious local crabs, and the hospitality of the residents. There is a calmness that transcends me even when I am going to the area for business.

For a recent business meeting I took a short trip to the Eastern shore and was able to dine at the wonderful RUSE restaurant at the lovely historic Wildset Hotel complex. The Ruse has stylish indoor and terrace dining and is known for their fresh shellfish and local fish. The vegetables and fruits are locally sourced, and the dining experience is casual but gourmet. Great friendly service with a delicious menu full of sharing options of small plates and large entrée portions.

The baked oysters were so tasty not fishy, and I am not even an oyster fan. The fresh taco scallop was innovative and mouth watery good with a hint of spicy. The burgers are large and sinful. Our party shared an assortment of dishes so I had no room left for dessert but will try on my next visit when I can spend more time in the area for leisure.

I adore discovering new dining venues, especially when they are locally owned and operated. It is important to support local businesses so they can grow and flourish.
