Anyone who knows me well knows how much I adore supporting local businesses. They give a community its character, allowing individuality, creativity, and tradition to thrive. For me, that connection feels especially meaningful around a dining table.
On a recent trip to the Costa del Sol, I had the pleasure of dining at El Cazador, a family-run restaurant overlooking the water in Estepona’s port. The family has welcomed guests since 1979, and their warmth and professionalism make it easy to understand why diners keep returning.
We began with their famous salad with blue cheese dressing—a generous serving, easily enough for several people. Then came our whole sole, expertly filleted for us and served with vegetables and roasted potatoes. Accompanied by a buttery sauce, the fish was exceptionally fresh and delicate, quite honestly one of the most delicious soles I have ever tasted.
We savored every bite, leaving no room for dessert. A coffee was all we needed to finish our meal and linger a little longer by the water.
On that busy Sunday, the dining room had the comfortable familiarity of a place filled with regulars. We felt fortunate to secure a table, and by the end of lunch, I understood its appeal.
For me, the pleasure of dining lies in fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, warm hospitality, and a setting that invites you to slow down. El Cazador brought all of those together beautifully.
I cannot wait to return.
