One of my most thrilling adventures was traveling to Ranthambore National Park for a Tiger Viewing Safari. I unfortunately didn’t see any actual Tigers but the experience was monumental and truly exotic!

I took a train from Jaipur to Sawi Madhopur which is the train station for the Ranthambore National Park. My train ride and arrival at this quaint train station was something out of an Agatha Christie novel. I truly felt like I was traveling back in time and experiencing a fascinating culture. The sights and senses I explored on my journey will be imprinted on my mind and one that I will always savor.

I stayed at the Oberoi Vanyavillas which is situated close to the National Park. The accommodations were mind blowing. Scattered around the beautiful property are luxury tents that are fully stocked with all the amenities one would require in such a faraway destination. A small spa, outdoor pool, lobby bar and an outdoor dining venue around a large fire pit complete the surreal experience. I adored eating outside around the fire pit, the Indian food that was sustainable and super fresh was delicious. The spices, flavors and textures still resonate with me.

I took four safaris in the three days I was there. I took one in the morning and then another in the afternoon. Even though I didn’t see any Tigers I did experience the lush foliage, sightings of other exotic animals, birds, monkeys galore and felt immersed in the natural habitat before me.

My arrangements were made by my dear friend Rahul Brijnath who is Indian by birth but resides in the UK who is an expert in old aspects of luxury travel to India. I couldn’t have made this somewhat complicated journey without his insight, expertise, experience and advise.
