The Historic district of Mexico City is one of my favorites! The recent James Bond movie Spectre with its opening scene in Zocalo has brought lots of attention to the area.

La Casa de Las Sirenas is one of my favorite dining venues in the historic part of Mexico City. A beautiful and historic restaurant in an updated colonial building that has a stunning view of the square and Cathedral. The outdoor covered terrace overlooking the square is breathtaking. One does have to go up a large quantity of steps to get there but worth the pain.

Having lunch with the sun hitting my shoulders is my definition of bliss. The terrace covered with plants and flowers is beautiful and peaceful. With so much history surrounding me it was hard to concentrate on my delicious food. The service is impeccable as is the fresh cuisine.

From the fresh seafood, the flan, margaritas and guacamole it was all heaven. There are so many trendy restaurants these day but La Casa de las Sirenas is a pure slice of history.
